The Professional Fighters League comes to London this Saturday 20th August at the Copperbox Arena for the 2nd event in as many weeks for their featherweight and women’s lightweight semi-final play-offs with the chance to fight for 1 million dollars on the line!
It is another stacked card from the PFL featuring the current queen of the lightweight mountain Kayla Harrison (2-0) taking on PFL semi-finalist Martina Jindrova (2-0) with Larissa Pacheco (2-0) Vs Olena Kolesnyk (2-0) heading up the other semifinal.
In the featherweight semi-finals, we have a couple of bangers with Chris Wade (2-0) taking on UK hot prospect Brendan Loughnane (2-0) and then my pick of the semi Ryoji Kudo (1-1) taking on a very dangerous Bubba Jenkins (2-0)
But wait… don’t go! We also have two GBTT athletes set to make their mark in front of a home crowd, first up we have the PFL debut of Tayo Odunjo (4-1) vs Magnus Iverson (2-0)
Odunjo is looking to hit the ground running in the PFL welterweight division against a game opponent. Iverson is undefeated in his professional career with a decision win over Andreas Christou (2-2) and a TKO win over Mathieu Rakotondrazanany (1-1)
Tayo Odunjo is a significant step up in competition for the Norwegian. A vicious striker with all but one of his 4 wins coming from KO/TKO. But a one-dimensional fighter he is not with the excellent grappling and slick Jiu Jitsu we have come to expect from our GBBT fighters.
Don’t take our word for it though, tune in Saturday night and see for yourself. But seeing as you are here, how about a taste? Check out the incredible video by Benjamin Birchall, and make sure you click here to give him a follow and tell him GBTT sent you!
Last but no means least we have the current PFL viral clip champion Simeon ‘Smooth’ Powell (6-0) who will face Joao Paolo Fagundes (7-0) who is another light heavyweight juggernaut looking to put the rest of the division on notice. The Brazillian is undefeated in his pro career but this is a huge step up in opponent with Simeon looking to punctuate why he is one of the hottest prospects in the PFL right now
The one they call Smooth is a different level of athlete and his story with the PFL is like a plot from a movie. After landing a developmental contract at PFL Challenger Series 8 with a decision win over Tobias Baker (2-2) No sooner had Simeon landed back in the UK, the phone was ringing for him to head back out to face Clinton Williams (9-6) who Powell ended up delivering the knee of the gods to secure one of the best knockouts in PFL history.
Simeon is a hometown boy and shows Andy Shepherd his side of London ahead of this Saturday’s event.
The whole card is looking to be an amazing night. You can watch the action over at Channel 4 Sports YouTube here or head over and grab a ticket for the event right here
