GBTT CO-FOUNDER

Brad Pickett GBTT Co-Founder

Brad “one punch” PICKETT

Co-founder & head coach

Brad is an influential figure and pioneer of British MMA, with almost 20 years’ experience in the sport.

Making his professional debut in 2004 with Cage Rage, Brad became Cage Rage British Featherweight Champion in 2005, and successfully defended his title the following year.

In 2009, with his record at 17-4, Brad signed to World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC). WEC then merged with UFC in 2010, and Brad made his UFC debut in 2011. The bout was awarded Fight of the Night, an accolade Brad earned four out of his first five UFC outings; UFC President Dana White famously said that Brad was one of favourite fighters to watch.

With his last pro fight in 2017, Brad turned his attention to coaching and co-founded Great Britain Top Team in 2019.

Martin barrett

Co-founder & CEO

I am a fan of MMA, first and foremost. I’ve always been fascinated by which martial art is the best, so when I saw my first UFC fight, I was hooked. That was nearly 20 years ago.

Elite athletes are a unique breed, so working with a legend like Brad, I have had an insight into what it takes to be the best. I wanted to be part of that, to provide a home for UK based fighters that could rival the US super gyms I had visited. I also wanted GBTT to be somewhere that I could train, as a middle aged and relative novice, and that was suitable for my young daughters to begin their martial arts journey, too. A real home for all of us.

GBTT is all of these things and more. I am hugely proud of what we have achieved so far and our aim is that everyone that comes into the gym will leave with a bit more confidence
and capability.

One day, a young person that walks through our doors with no experience of martial arts, will become a World Champion. And I cannot wait to meet them
