October 7th marks the return of the bantamweight king Dominique ‘The Black Panther’ Wooding (9-4) as he takes on ‘The Italian Thunder’ Michele Martignoni (7-1) as the headline for an amazing Cage Warriors 144 card, its first ever show in Italy that will showcase prospects from across europe.
Wooding has been nothing short of sensational, currently on a 3 fight win streak, all ending with clinical striking that has gained him notoriaty across the fighting world and counts none other than Israel Adesanya as one of his many admirers. Cage Warriors has been a natural progression for many fighters into the UFC and I think its safe to say that another victory would all but guarantee a call up from uncle Dana!
But its never easy being the king, there is always someone trying to take your crown. The Italian Thunder is the next opponent who believes its his time to rule the bantamweight division. Michele is currently on a 1 fight win streak after a unanimous decision victory over Scott Malone (6-1) at Cage Warriors 140. He is a solid striker with good jiu jitsu and is hoping that lighting will strike in his home town capturing the belt, but we know that Wooding eats lightning and drinks volcanos in the gym everyday.
My official weather prediction is on October 7th, there will be a strong gust of ‘and still’ coming from the big smoke!
