Later this month England Mixed Martial Arts Association will be sending a squad of talented amateurs to compete at the IMMAF MMA European Championships. It is an incredible honor to represent your country on any level of competition and GBTT fighter Lisa Zimmo was one of the lucky few, selected for the women’s MMA squad.
They will be heading out to Italy on September 27th to compete against some of the strongest teams anywhere in the world. Europe has the largest footprint in the world with 43 member nations, 6 of which are in the top 10 World Amateur MMA Rankings, including Sweden, Ukraine, Ireland, Spain, and Italy; while Ukraine, Poland, England, and Ireland sit among the top #10 junior teams.
Like any amateur sport, funding is almost none existent, and relying on help from supporters, family and friends are an unfortunate, yet necessary part of the process.
