Congratulations to GBTT’s star fighter Nathaniel Wood, who earned himself a unanimous decision win over John Castaneda in Abu Dhabi Fight Island on Saturday 25th July 2020.

‘The Prospect’ Wood showed maturity and confidence from the get-go and maintained his focus throughout the fight. The empty arena allowed him to hear the corner clearly (you can hear Brad and Gary, even on the show) – “be a sniper, pick your shots, take him apart”. Wood played it smart and didn’t give Castaneda a chance to play the 50-50 brawl card, keeping Nathaniel in control of the fight until the end. He out-struck John 2-1 in significant strikes and secured a successful takedown and top position, keeping him in the lead until the 30-27 unanimous decision. Fair play to Castaneda who had his Mexican chin on – Wood cracked him a few times with shots that would have dropped a lesser man.

Nathaniel was happy to have secured this win against Castaneda and be back in the win column after suffering a loss to former opponent John Dodson. This adds yet another win to his record which currently sits at 17-4-0.

What’s Next for ‘The Prospect’ Wood…?

Nathaniel confessed that he would jump at the chance to take on John Dodson again, he hopes to rack up some more wins so that the former opponents can resettle the score in the future. In the meantime, Nathaniel will keep training with the GBTT Team, preparing himself to take on higher ranking opponents in the division. We would like a top 15 name again, but Bantamweight is quickly becoming the most stacked division in the UFC, so there are killers all down the line.
So, line ‘em up and we will knock ‘em down!
On to the next one..!
