PAWFC Is a shining light in the landscape of women’s MMA. They are not only giving a much-needed voice to Canadian women’s MMA but also trying to change the entire landscape of women’s MMA worldwide. By allowing fighters to be compensated both inside and outside the ring, to being an advocate of female MMA-centric subject matter. They are doing things very differently from the competition,

On Saturday 27th August at the Winsport Event Centre, Calgary three GBTT fighters will make their PAWFC debut.

First up we have Kerensky Fernandes(1-0 Amateur record) vs Robyn Dunne (0-1 Amateur record)

Fernandes has done nothing but impress since taking up martial arts with her sister just as a way to keep fit. Being a former British National Weight lifting Champion definitely helped and after stints doing Muay Thai and grappling separately, Kerensky realised her true calling was MMA.

Fast forward to last November when she made her amateur debut, taking out a game Alice Blackman (0-1) to win the Olympus Fight Series 2 via TKO stoppage in the second round. Now signing with PAWFC Fernandes is looking to continue her impressive start with a win over the Canadian Native Robyn Dunne.

Robyn is 1-1 as an amateur, with her only pro fight being a few years ago against the former UFC bantamweight queen Juliana Peña but this is a really important fight for both women to start their careers on the right footing with a new promotion.

Next, we have Louise Hiller (4-2 Amateur record) making her pro debut against Maria Jose “Majo” Favele (2-2 Pro record)Louise is the epitome of a never give up fighter and it’s this mental toughness, along with her skillset that has seen her capture the Almighty Fighting Championship bantamweight title. Louise excellent grappiling skills and has all the tools to get the job done on the feet.

Louise is taking all of her knowledge, experience, and courage, to a new organisation with a fresh challenge. She has a real tenacity in the way she fights, never gives up, and has all the skills to make it to the top of PAWFC.

But it won’t be easy, Maria Jose “Majo” Favela is a game fighter who is coming off of a couple of frustrating decision losses but she has proved to be a very tricky customer. Maria’s last outing against Sarah Kleczka at Invicta FC 45 was a razor-thin decision loss and you bet that she is coming to new pastures with a desire to get back into winning ways. This is going to be a really fun fight to watch!

Last up we have Ako Murata (1-1 Amateur record) vs Allyse Cotterill (0-0 Amateur record) Ako is a personal inspiration as to not letting anything (and I mean anything) get in between you and your goals. The first time I ever met Ako, she was punching a bag with her leg in a cast on a chair, she does not know the meaning of the word ‘can’t’.

Murata is a slick grappler who is a handful for anyone brave enough to roll with her. She is coming into PAWFC to redeem her TKO Loss to Chloe Cooke at Cage Warriors South East 26 and is stepping into the cage against a relatively unknown commodity in Allyse who is making her MMA Debut.

It is going to be an amazing card and we can not wait to see it all go down on Saturday the 27th. Head on over to PAWFC to find out how to buy the event on PPV here. It helps support the fighters while they are out there and it will be well worth the $19.99
